Digital Repository of Oral History of Malevizi Municipality
The Digital Repository of Oral History of the Municipality of Malevizi represents the first attempt by a Municipality at a Pan-Cretan level to collect memories, recollections, and stories of the people of the area in an era of digital data and the search for elements of culture and folklore of the recent past.
Interviews, audio recordings, collection of photographic material from the areas, as well as written documents, will comprise the content of the Digital Repository of Oral History of the Municipality of Malevizi.

The goal of this initiative is to place the citizen of the area at the center as a content creator and collector of archival material, thus contributing to the recording of local history through the interaction of generations, the recording of narratives, and the preservation of collective memory and cultural heritage of the region.
As of today, the Oral History Repository is an active digital website with content already including 23 interviews, significant photographic material from 12 communities in the area, and the main perspective of enrichment in stories, narratives, and images from all the places that make up the Municipality.
The cultural organization Androidus Project Tank and the Laboratory of Culture and Innovation Research designed and implemented the above initiative as a result of field cultural research, software development, and collaboration with local communities and bodies of the Municipality of Malevizi.
On June 15th and 16th, two oral history workshops will be held in the communities of Tylissos and Fodele, aiming to present the operation of the repository and to deepen the techniques of capturing testimonies and narratives, in order to create many and different sources of content with the local human factor at its core.
The Digital Repository of the Municipality of Malevizi reflects the transition from the writing and printed word of the few (those who managed to write, leaving a rich legacy) to the recording of the memory and narratives of the many and different who carry with them a treasure trove of data, shaping generation by generation, the cultural identity and physiognomy of each area.
