Digital Historic Archive of Anogeia Municipality
"History is a treaty among the dead, the living, and the unborn."
Edmund Burke, 1729-1797, British statesman & philosopher.
Initiated by the Municipality of Anogeia and Mayor Mr. Socratis Kefalogiannis, in collaboration with one of the most innovative and pioneering information technology and communications companies, DOT SoFT SA, Androidus Project Tank collaborates on the significant step of digitizing the Historical Archive of the Municipality of Anogeia.
In a place that endured three devastating catastrophes in 1822, 1867, and 1944, and managed to rebuild itself from the ashes and ruins, the preserved archival material consists of the most valuable fragments of memory, events, and experiences that compose only a part of the long history of our region.
Stories, war and resistance archives, memoirs, correspondence of leaders and protagonists of public life in Anogeia, cultural events and designs, decisions of municipal councils, tributes to daily and periodical press, as well as audiovisual material of life in Anogeia will now transition to the digital era, allowing easier and safer access.
In a place where history persists to live and evolve, the transition from the analog world to the "cloud" of the digital realm reminds us of the saying by M.N. Thervantes that history is the guardian of great deeds, witness of the past, example and teacher for the present, and a great counselor for the future.
